This position supports Township operations by ensuring compliance with all ordinances, codes, and regulations in planning, zoning, and permit issuance. Inspection of construction projects to include subdivision and land development, building improvements, floodplain development and stormwater management projects.
The Zoning/Planning Officer oversees departmental operations including budgeting, reporting, records management, and staff supervision. The department consists of an Assistant Zoning/Planning Officer, Code Enforcement Officer, and Permit Clerk.
This position also coordinates and oversees the process and procedures for the township's Zoning Hearing Board and Planning Commission. The Zoning/Planning Officer works with the township engineer in all matters of planning reviews and land development.
The Zoning/Planning Officer will also work with the Township Manager as the township identifies and establishes future redevelopment opportunities. This will involve building relationships with local government officials, key development community members, county and state agencies, and related community members.
Candidates must possess Building Code Official Certification (BCO) and have knowledge of the principles and practices of building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical construction and maintenance. This position also requires knowledge of the Municipalities Planning Code and be able to interpret and work from technical sketches and blueprints.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two year's supervisory experience and three to five years of experience in the zoning and planning field.
