The Chief of Police is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Borough's full-service Law Enforcement Organization.  The Police Department has an authorized workforce of 15 full-time officers including the Chief, 1 Lieutenant, 1 Detective and 12 Police Officers.  In addition, there are two civilian positions, one Administrative Assistant and one Accreditation Manager.  The Borough serves a population of 5,740 residents and also serves Earl Township with a population of approximately 7,200 for a combined population of approximately 12,940.  The Chief will be responsible for the operational and administrative functions of the Police Department under the direction of the Borough Manager.

The Chief will be responsible for creating and maintaining effective productive working relationships and a harmonious atmosphere.  The relationships and atmosphere include the department, appointed and elected officials, Borough and Township residents, businesses, neighboring county and state departments/organizations and others that have business or pleasure visits to the Borough and Township.

The annual operating budget for the Police Department is $3.2 million for fiscal year 2026.

• Must be MPOETC Act 120 Certified upon hire date or able to obtain re-certification
• Valid PA Drivers License
• Ten (10) years of progressive management (chief or command preferred) experience in not less than a 15 full-time sworn member department or current Lieutenant
• Ability to operate standard office and Police Department equipment; PC literate
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must possess excellent comprehension, team building and management skills
• Must successfully pass an extensive background investigation, medical psychological and drug scan examinations
• Must be of strong moral character, in good physical condition and be able to perform the essential functions of the position
• Residency to be established within a reasonable commute and within a time frame agreed upon by the Borough
